Night out makeup

Here's a quick introductory post back to blogging after not posting for a month. So I was playing around with my makeup stash and came out with this cat eye look that would suit nights out wear. I'm not one for wearing eyeliner like this very often and surprised how good it turned out.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in '53' // Maybelline Gel liner in 'Black' // Rimmel Scandaleyes in 'Black' // The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in '02' // Maybelline the rocket mascara in 'Black Waterproof' // Maybelline lipstick in 'Sweet Pink'

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette

It was my birthday just over a month ago and I asked for a Sleek palette. I don't really wear eye shadow, if I do I pick up the maybelline colour tattoo so thought it was time to venture out and try something new.

I got the original palette, and the eye shadows are very pigmented and creamy to the touch. They are slightly shimmery but not the point of it looking like tacky glitter. I wore the two pinky shades to the wedding to match my outfit shown here, and as I applied them I wet the brush a little and they stayed put all day! The shadows are also easy to remove with make up wipes and come off in one sweep.

The only downside is the palette is very hard to open but I am excited to experiment with all the different colours especially with summer coming :)

Denim Love

I love a good pair of comfy jeans, however I struggle to find jeans that fit my height as I am only 5"3. My current jeans have been well loved and some are looking old so I decided to go the hunt for new ones.

I ventured into Zara (not feeling hopeful) however after about trying on 4 different styles of jeans, I settled for the jeggings style. They are a tiny bit loose around my ankles but I can live with that, and they are super comfy. They were £19.99 each which is decently priced for Zara denim. My hunt for new jeans was a success which is usually rare when I go looking for something specific.

Boots Drugstore Beauty Haul

I hadn't bought anything in Boots for myself for a while, only birthday presents for other people. So as I was passing I thought I popped in a pick up a few bits.

Soap and Glory had a new body wash I hadn't seen before called 'Orangeasm' and since I'm halfway through my current one I thought I'd give this a whirl. I also picked up a few essentials in this case Sure deodorant and tweezers. Seeing as summer is creeping up and as I am very pale I bought Rimmel's instant tan to put some colour back onto my skin, I have never tried this one before but have heard some good reviews. I played it safe and chose the light matte shade.

Boots currently have their 3 for 2 deal on, so I bought one of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 'Hot Pepper'. People claim it has not budged all night once it is on (that sold me!). Also, I bought my favourite mascara Maybelline the rocket volume express in waterproof as my current mascara is running dry. Finally as I am very much a nail addict I had to pick up a new shade of the Barry M gelly hi shines, I gave up nail varnish for Lent so this will definitely be the next colour I wear. It is a soft pastel blue called 'Huckleburry'. What a cute name!

Dressing for a Wedding...

Last weekend my cousin got married, so we spent the weekend down in Cambridge. Getting all my outfit pieces was quite tricky juggling assignments and placement but managed to get everything with the help of online shopping!

I'm not a jacket kind of person so when I found this peplum style, even though I was still unsure, I gave it a go because it was something different I was used to wearing. I also opted for wedges because they are a lot more comfy and they served me well and my feet didn't hurt one bit during the day.

Something New: Glasses

I always wanted glasses when I was little, but my eyesight was very good (which I know is lucky!). I think I was just jealous of every other member of my family wearing them.

Back in January I was getting horrible headaches, I was having naps most days to try and get rid of them, drinking more water than normal and I was put off from doing any work.

A friend suggested I go get my eyes tested, and the opticians suggested I start wearing glasses for close up work (reading, using a computer etc.) I don't wear the glasses everyday but if I am working on the computer for a long time for example I would wear them then.

I may not need them full time, but the opticians said they have found a lot of students needing glasses because of the amount of eye strain on their eyes.

I chose a wide tortoise shell style with a purple inside rim. I have had the glasses for around 6 weeks now, and have hardly had any headaches since. However it stills feels strange wearing them!

My advice: don't leave it three years until you go for an eye test!

Where have I been!?

It has been nearly two months since I last posted on my blog. But hopefully I am back!

You're probably wondering what I have been doing with my time. Firstly, I became very busy because I had 3 assignments on the go that were due in 5 days apart from each other so that was a priority.

Secondly for 5 weeks of the time I have been on placement doing the job that I love which did take up a lot of my time, however I finished that yesterday and have successfully passed!

I also didn't blog because some days I wasn't very happy/cheery and didn't want it to come across on the blog which was another reason.

I have some posts up my sleeve coming your way very soon, but for the time being I'm sat here finishing my assignment due next Friday before some well deserved time off, and give you lovely people something to read!
